The Great and Terrible God by John R Rice.

This book openly professes to contain seven sermons that take a plain, strong stand on sin and error. They deal will particular sins by prominent individuals and draw lessons for the multitude, just as some sermons which we read in the Bible. So Elijah preached on Mount Carmel and then killed the 450 prophets of Baal. So Jesus preached in the Temple, “It is not written, My House shall be called of all nations, the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves” and he made a whip and then drove the money changers from the temple and over-turned the tables that sold doves. So John the Baptist faced Herod over living with his brother’s wife and so Stephen preached that the Jewish people were “stiff-necked and uncircumcised heart.”

Perhaps the strongest virtue of these sermons is that they are Bible sermons, they are full of scripture. They strive to apply the blessed Word of God to the problems facing people everywhere, and the author trusts that many will be helped to have an understanding of the will of God, and particularly will be led to turn from their sins and trust the dear Lord Jesus Christ through these Biblical sermons.
