Isaiah has been called the fifth gospel because in it God speaks through his prophet of his people's departure from the truth, the need for repentance and the redemption provided by a coming Saviour. Isaiah's imagery is some of the most beautiful and the most terrifying in the Bible. Its lessons for the contemporary church at very apt. Too often commentators become a discussion between commentators rather than what the text is saying but that is what makes this one different. Harman devotes most of his energy to what God is saying through the prophet rather than what we are saying among ourselves.
