The main endeavour of this book was to present a series of papers which were be topical and direct, as the occasion demanded at a Summer Vacation Camp. When the public services of the church on the Lord’s Day were suspended, it was felt that the weekly prayer-meeting should be kept open, as an opportunity for those whose duties made it necessary for them to remain in the city during the heated term; it was thought that such a meeting might keep alive spiritual interests, form the nucleus for the constant agitation of spiritual desires, stimulate work for the coming fall, and be always a refuge for those otherwise deprived of their regular church privileges.
Since writing the above concerning the “Friday Night Papers,” it has been determined to add others, including:
