You can go to seminary and learn how to preach a sermon, but you will have to go to God to get messages.” As far as Oswald Smith was concerned preaching is a calling from God, and it is about proclaiming the truth of God, God’s Word. It is both confrontational and comforting. It is foolishness to the world, but strong unto the glory of God.
One can only preach as he is yielded to Christ and saturated in prayer, affecting both the message and the messenger. Smith did not to preach pop psychology or the wisdom of man but instead he preached the infallible Word of God for the essence of every sermon and indeed the Word of God is that they hearer will know, follow and grasp Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
